Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhen is the best time to visit Tanzania for a safari?

Tanzania is a year-round destination, but the dry season (June–October) is generally the best time for game viewing as animals congregate around water sources and vegetation is lower. The Great Migration river crossings happen July–October. Calving season in the southern Serengeti runs January–February and is also spectacular. The green season (November–May) offers lower prices and lush landscapes.

QDo I need a visa to visit Tanzania?

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tanzania. Visas can be obtained in advance through the Tanzania e-visa portal or on arrival at major international airports. We recommend applying online before travel. We can provide guidance on the visa application process when you book.

QWhat vaccinations do I need for Tanzania?

Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from a yellow fever endemic country. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended. We also advise hepatitis A, typhoid, and ensuring your routine vaccinations are up to date. Please consult your doctor or a travel health clinic well before your trip.

QWhat currency is used and can I pay by card?

The Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) is the local currency, but US dollars are widely accepted for safari payments. ATMs are available in Arusha and major towns. We accept payment via bank transfer, major credit cards, and we partner with Pesapal for secure online payments.

QHow far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance, especially for travel during peak season (July–October) and for Kilimanjaro climbs. This ensures availability at your preferred lodges and allows time for any visa or health preparation. That said, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings — contact us to check availability.
